"Ken brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position and we are looking forward to the success our long-term land management approach will yield under his leadership."
"My philosophy is to do what is appropriate for the land and usually the land will tell you what is appropriate," said Seeger. "I wanted to be a part of MeadWestvaco and the East Edisto process because this is a chance to have a strong positive impact on the Lowcountry. It's a rare opportunity to preserve history, to protect wildlife and greenspaces, to create recreational options for people to enjoy nature, and to plan for homes in a thoughtful way for this growing region."
Seeger brings more than 30 years of experience in all aspects of real estate development to the newly created position. Prior to joining MeadWestvaco, he was president of The Presidio Group, LLC and its affiliates, a highly regarded San Francisco-based real estate asset management, entitlement and development company. He also has had an ongoing relationship with the Audubon Society, managing their open spaces in Southern California to set aside lands to preserve the habitats of birds and wildlife.
Prior to that, he was responsible for all finance and acquisition activities for land and housing development company, Southwest Diversified/Coscan Partners. His real estate development projects have included both residential and commercial properties throughout California and in Arizona. Five years ago, he arranged the sale of 1600 acres in Marin County, Calif., to the Coastal Conservancy, which became part of the largest ever wetlands restoration project in the western United States.
He is a full member of the Urban Land Institute and Lambda Alpha, an honorary land economies society.
